Obituary for Philip Edward Rowland

OXFORD, CT: Philip Edward Rowland, age 88, entered into peaceful rest on July 26, 2019 surrounded by loving family at his home. A lifelong Oxford resident, he was the beloved husband of Loretta (Favreau) Rowland.
Philip was born November 26, 1930 in Derby, son of the late Edward and Alfaretta (Moore) Rowland. He served in the National Guard and then in the US Army during the Korean War. After the war, Philip earned a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Connecticut. He was a retired Measurement Specialist with Moore Special Tool in Bridgeport. Philip was active in the Oxford Grange, a member of the Oxford Historical Society, and an avid antique automobile enthusiast.
In addition to his wife, Philip leaves his loving family, including his son, Howard Rowland (Debbie) in Rhode Island; his daughters, Cheryl Rowland (Tom Carver) in Massachusetts and Belinda Rowland in New York; a brother, Fred Rowland of Oxford; his sister, Marion Fritz in Hebron; his grandchildren, Max, Bryan, Olivia, Amelia, Jarod, and Kylie; his great grandchildren, Destiny, Collin, Alex, and Hunter; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his twin brother, Edward Philip Rowland.
A memorial service in celebration of Philip's life will be held Monday at 1:00 PM in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour. Interment will be private.
