Obituary for Mildred Katchmar (Rodefer)

Mildred (Rodefer) Katchmar, age 79 of Beacon Falls, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 22, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Portsmith, VA, on February 26, 1939, she was the daughter of the late William and Ella (Baker) Rodefer. Mildred retired from the CT Post where she worked multiple jobs to provide for her family. A communicant of St. Michael’s Church, she was a proud mother who instilled strong work ethics and values on her children. The importance of being happy and loving one another was a top priority for her, and she was adored by her large extended family who referred to her as “Nana Millie”. She enjoyed cooking and was known for sharing her pierogis and soups. Mildred will be remembered for her infectious and contagious laughter, as well as her constant smile, sense of humor and being the heart of her family. She will be deeply missed by her adoring children, J. Scott Katchmar and his wife Betsy, Steven Katchmar and his wife Anne Marie, and Karen K. Rougeot and her husband Rick; her pride and joy grandchildren, Jodi Scalzo and her husband, Bryan, Nick Wilson, Daniel Soden, Jason Katchmar, Jared Katchmar and his wife Rachel, and Erika Katchmar; great grandchildren, Saige, Braydon, Lucas and Liam, as well as nieces Lisa and Jodi. She was predeceased by her daughter, Kathleen Katchmar Wilson. Funeral services will be take place on Thursday, April 26, 2018 starting at 10 am from the Ralph Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church St. Seymour, CT 06483, and at 11 am in St. Michael Church, Beacon Falls, CT. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 4pm-7pm in the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Mildred’s name can be made to the CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd.
