Obituary for Thomas "Tom" Laput

BEACON FALLS, CT: Thomas Laput, age 76 of Beacon Falls, beloved husband of Dianne (Birdsall) Laput, entered into peaceful rest on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at his home surrounded by family. Born in Bridgeport on March 6, 1942, he was a son of the late Joseph and Anna (Mikishka) Laput, Sr.

A retired financial employee of AT&T, Tom was a proud US National Guard veteran. He was very active in the Beacon Falls community for many years as an enthusiastic and hard-working member of many civic organizations. He was a member of the Service Award Committee (Beacon Hose Co. No. 1 Volunteer Fire and Ambulance), a member and Chairman of the Ethics Board, and was a member of the Beacon Falls Jaycees.

Ever the lighthearted jokester, Tom loved to make people laugh. He was an avid NY Giants and UCONN Huskies Women’s Basketball fan. Tom and Dianne enjoyed gardening together creating several beautiful perennial gardens surrounding their home. Fishing was a relaxing pastime of Tom’s, and he was eager to teach his grandchildren how to keep “tight lines”. You could always engage him in a conversation covering many topics, especially politics. Most of all, he loved spending time with family, entertaining them with his stories, and watching his grandchildren as they participated in their various activities.

In addition to his wife of 52 years, survivors include his loving sons, Adam Laput and his wife Marcia of Beacon Falls, and Todd Laput and his wife Jenni of CO; brother, Joseph Laput, Jr. and his wife Loretta of Stratford; 5 cherished grandchildren, Zachary, Emily, Jonas, Kiera and Sofia, as well as his nephew, Gregory Laput of NC.

A Funeral Requiem Service will be held on Friday, November 16, 2018 at 10 a.m. in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour CT 06483. Interment with full military honors will follow in Kings Highway Cemetery, Milford. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 15, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
